Setting up your courts
What StatsCentral needs from you before players can stream from a court.
Overview
Venue OS turns a court into one a player can stream from. They scan a code on the wall, tap Stream in SportsCast, and their game goes out to YouTube or Facebook. You are paid for the time they spend streaming.
Setting a court up is something StatsCentral does with you rather than something you do alone. This article explains what we need and what you get back, so you know whether anything is missing.
What we need from you
For each court you want to sell streaming on:
- A name players will recognise. Court 1, Show Court, Back Left — whatever is painted on the wall or what your staff call it. This is the name that appears on the player's phone after they scan, and it is how they confirm they are standing in the right place.
- The sport it is used for. A court used for two sports should be listed under the one played on it most.
- A camera pointed at it. This is your own CCTV. Venue OS never switches it on or off, and never takes it over — it runs all day exactly as it does now. We only need to be able to reach the feed.
What we set up
Once you have given us the above, StatsCentral registers each court and hands you:
- A QR code for every court. Printable signage you mount on the wall. See Printing and mounting your court QR codes.
- Access to your dashboard. One of your staff accounts is attached to the venue so they can sign in and see what the courts are earning.
Who at your venue gets access
Someone from your team needs a StatsCentral account before we can attach the venue to them. They can create one from the sign-up page like any other user; we then link that account to your venue.
You can have more than one person attached, which is normal for a venue with several managers. Everyone attached sees the same dashboard and can end a stream.
Signing someone up does not attach them automatically, and attaching them is not something they can do for themselves — ask StatsCentral and we will do it.
Turning a court on or off
A court sells streaming only while it is switched on for it. If a court is being resurfaced, or you simply do not want it sold for a while, tell StatsCentral and we will turn it off. Its QR code stays on the wall and stops resolving until the court is back.
Do not peel the sticker off. A code that is turned off can be turned back on; a code that has been destroyed has to be reissued and remounted.
Before your first player
Walk each court and check three things: the sticker is on the wall and readable, the name on the sticker matches what your staff call the court, and your camera is pointed at the playing area rather than at the ceiling. If any of those is wrong, it is much cheaper to fix before a player finds it than after.
